We love our Volunteers
WAVAW Volunteers are feminists.
WAVAW Volunteers get up in the middle of the night to tell strangers they are not alone.
WAVAW Volunteers get up in front of dozens of strangers and call out patriarchy, colonization, police brutality, and rape culture.
WAVAW Volunteers educate one person at a time about WAVAW and about ending violence.
WAVAW Volunteers answer dozens of calls, fold hundreds of pieces of paper, and raise thousands of dollars.
WAVAW Volunteers make hard decisions about keeping a feminist rape crisis centre afloat in a time of austerity, defunding, backlash, and post-feminism.
WAVAW Volunteers make the space as safe as humanly possible for the women who walk through our doors.
WAVAW Volunteers make crucial connections with major donors to ensure we can keep those doors open.
WAVAW Volunteers are dedicated, hardworking, and passionate about ending violence against women.
This year alone…
WAVAW Volunteers were there when we received 4086 Crisis Line calls after hours.
WAVAW Volunteers were there when WAVAW’s presence was required at 18 different events out in the community.
WAVAW Volunteers were there for 533 hours when the phone rang in the office, when tax receipts needed to be mailed to our treasured donors, and when we needed brilliant graphic design to make people LISTEN!
For all of this, from the bottom (and all the parts) of our hearts, THANK YOU!
