Invite Salal To Your Event

Interested in having Salal at your event? Salal has spoken at conferences, panels, forums, and play talkbacks. Salal has also been invited as guests and participants to community events, marches, and ceremonies. We can also provide information and resource tables at your event.

Some examples of Salal in the community include:

  • The Vancouver Dyke March – Salal was invited to be the grand marshals at the 2019 Dyke March in recognition of our leadership in the community and our dedication to supporting trans, queer, non-binary and Two Spirit survivors of sexualized violence
  • Talkback for Shameless Hussy’s production of Dissolve – Salal participated in the talkback at the end of Shameless Hussy’s production of Dissolve, where the audience engaged in discussions that challenge beliefs and behaviours related to alcohol, drugs, and sexual assault
  • Panelist for the Feminist Deliver Conference – Salal staff sat on and moderated panels during past Feminist Deliver conferences
  • Salal staff and volunteers provided information and resource tables at community events, such as volunteer fairs at universities, [and others]

Is there a fee for Salal speakers?

We do not charge for information and resource tabling at events.

Salal does charge a suggested fee of $200 per hour for events where we speak, such as conferences, panels, forums and play talkbacks.

What experience does Salal have speaking at events?

Salal has nearly four decades of experience in the gender-based anti-violence sector and is well-positioned to speak at conferences, panels, and other events. Salal staff utilize a critical feminist, anti-oppressive, and decolonizing approach and come with years of experience and specialized knowledge on gender-based violence.

Does Salal do in-person speaking events or virtual events?

Salal takes the COVID-19 pandemic and the safety of our staff and volunteers very seriously. Please contact the Educational Outreach team to provide details about your event to determine if Salal can participate in-person. Otherwise, we can participate in events virtually and will continue to offer this option in the future.

What materials does Salal provide at events?

Salal can provide program brochures, resource cards, and other publications. Some of these materials can be delivered to organizations and/or sent digitally by email. Contact the Educational Outreach team to find out more, at outreach@salalsvsc.ca or 236-885-8191.
