As a member of our community we know that you understand the importance of sexual assault services. You might be shocked to hear that some people are surprised that Vancouver needs these services.

“Does that still happen?” someone asked a WAVAW employee offhandedly after she told them where she worked.

The answer is yes, of course sexual assault still happens. We wish it didn’t – but it does. More people than ever are accessing our services.

Because you are an active member of our community we wanted to share some numbers with you. Hopefully these numbers come in handy if you find yourself talking to someone who asks “Does that still happen?”

The infographic on the right shows some key numbers from our counselling program last year. 

These numbers go up every year, and we are committed to being here to support survivors at every point of their healing journey.

And that’s where you come in. We so thankful for you, our community. These counselling services wouldn’t be available without your support.
