Dedicated, Talented, Caring Women
Dedicated, Talented, Caring Women
These are just a few of the words that describe our volunteers. April 21-27 is National Volunteer Week and we’re taking this opportunity to honour our brilliant, talented, creative, caring, and beautiful volunteers!
We don’t mean to brag (ok, maybe we do), but these women are phenomenal! They provide leadership and vision on our Board… They answer the Crisis Line through the night and on weekends… They connect with the community at conferences, fairs, marches, parades, and fundraisers… They answer the phones, make schedules, mail tax receipts, and design posters.
They are an essential part of the WAVAW community, without which we could not work the way we do to support survivors and advocate for a safer and more just society! They offer incredible insight, critical questions, and fresh energy.
And, they do this on top of juggling school, work, family, and multiple other commitments! They are public speaking, running businesses, moving between countries, graduating and applying to schools, building careers, organizing protests and celebrations, training others, creating music, making art, developing complex identities and analysis, teaching the people in their lives about feminism, and staying connected to hope and action in a rape culture. We recognize these enormous feats of strength and courage.
From all the WAVAW staff to our spectacular volunteers: THANK YOU for everything you do for this community and for all you bring to this important work!!!
