To our amazing community,We know that you already understand the importance of the work that WAVAW does. You might be shocked to hear that some people are surprised that Vancouver needs our services.
“Does that still happen?” someone asked a WAVAW employee offhandedly after she told them where she worked.
The answer is yes, of course sexual assault still happens. We wish it didn’t – but it does. More women than ever are accessing our services.
Because you are an active member of our community we wanted to share some numbers with you. Hopefully these numbers come in handy should you find yourself talking to someone who asks “Does that still happen?”
