Are You Kidding Me?
[Trigger warning: rampant misogyny, entitlement, and sexist epithets in the link below…]
You know what government most urgently needs to fund, according to this blogger dude? Not rape crisis centres or education or health care or housing or child care. Nope! As public services and the social safety net unravel around us, what we really need is for women to be paid to go on dates with socially awkward guys who can’t otherwise get any action. We only wish he were kidding us.
The blog, called “Governments Get Girlfriends,” insists that men who are “Incel” (involuntarily celibate) deserve public funding to get their love lives rolling. The author compares women to “goods” (yet claims not to be objectifying or degrading women) and labels those who take offense as “manginas and feminists,” i.e.
disgusting, utterly wretched people esposuing [sic] dangerous and toxic ideas like third wave femifascism, extreme misandry, myths of “patriarchy” and “rape culture” (and general obsession with rape), cult of therapy, political correctness, hatred of the white race…
His ranting and raving would be laughable if it weren’t scarily reflective of the totally mainstream idea that men are entitled to women’s bodies and that anybody who objects (or notices that oppression is, um, an actual thing) is crazy and has it coming to them.
Glad to see a few mainstream media outlets calling this guy out for his misogyny and refocusing the discussion on how our society should really support people with social anxiety. Thanks, HuffPo!
