Join WAVAW in Celebrating 30 Years of Action to Eliminate Violence Against Women
On International Women’s Day 2013, WAVAW has a lot to celebrate: three decades of hard-won achievements in the struggle to create a society where all women are free from violence.
To commemorate a small selection of the events in our herstory—and to show our appreciation for all the women and allies who’ve contributed to our work over the years—we’ve created the nifty timeline below.
WAVAW’s accomplishments wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of our supporters, particularly our donors. In a time where services dedicated to women’s safety are often undervalued and underfunded, it’s been quite a feat just to keep our doors open to survivors for thirty turbulent years. And although we want to celebrate WAVAW’s significant work towards shifting society, we are acutely aware of how much remains to be done to end violence against women and the multiple forms of oppression underlying it.We firmly believe that the timeline above represents only the first few years of a long journey towards realizing our vision: a society where all women are free from violence. We won’t stop until we get there. And we will need your support along the way.
What better way to celebrate International Women’s Day than to make some herstory? Please consider donating today, on International Women’s Day, to ensure we can continue supporting survivors and shifting society for the future.
Thank you to the super-skilled WAVAW volunteer Madison Reid for designing and producing WAVAW’s timeline.
